Cypress College, located in the beautiful California town of Cypress, was founded in 1966 to give students of various backgrounds the opportunity to further their education. Currently home to 14,000 students of many races and ethnicities, the school has a deep commitment to diversity and respecting the many cultures that come to campus. The 110-acre campus features a beautiful pond along with study areas made to resemble local parks. Currently Cypress College offers fast-track certificate training programs, Associate degrees and Bachelor's degrees in a wide array of subjects. Students can choose from such majors as Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Registered Nursing, Journalism and more. Students looking to transfer to other four-year institutions can choose from majors in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, Engineering and others. Student life at Cypress College is full of interesting opportunities for personal and professional growth. Students with an interest in government can participate in Student Government Association activities, while other students can participate in various clubs and organizations. The Student Activities Center, recently renovated, offers students a spacious lounge, computer lab, conference room, game room and more. Athletics comprise a big part of the Cypress experience, with Physical Education being one of the most popular majors at the school. In addition to Associate and Bachelor's degrees in PE, certificates are also available in Aerobic Instruction, Athletic Coaching and Sports Management. The school also fields teams in 14 intercollegiate sports for both men and women including basketball, softball and track and field. The teams have had a proud history of success dating back to the school's founding in 1966, having won 16 state championships in that time.
Students who may be needing some guidance can visit the Student Services Center for help in a variety of areas including career planning, counseling services and health services. The campus is also very accommodating for disabled students, with all buildings having easy access and classrooms equipped with special equipment for those hard of hearing or with vision problems.
