Blinn College was founded in 1883 in the city of Brenham, Texas. Brenham is located in the East-central portion of Texas about 70 miles to the west of the city of Houston. The city has a population of just over 15,000 residents. The economic profile for the city is best described as blue collar dependent largely on manufacturing. The primary employer in Blue Bell Creameries which produces the third best-selling ice cream in America.
Blinn College is a two-year college who's primary goal is preparing students for transfer to four-year universities. Many of the 49% of students that transfer do so to Texas A&M University or Sam Houston State University. Blinn has a total of four campuses located in Brenham (Main), Bryan, Schulenburg, and Sealy.
