Sacramento is the capitol city of the state of California. The city has a population of about two million people, and it is considered one of the most entertaining cities in the country. The city is also home to numerous institutions of higher learning, including Sacramento City College. Sacramento City College was established in 1916 as a part of Sacramento High School. In 1922, the college broke off from the high school and became Sacramento Junior College. In the 1960s, the institution joined the Los Rios Junior College District, and Los Rios paid $1.00 for the campus that lies on 75 acres.
Some of the common majors offered at the school include nursing, liberal arts, cosmetology, psychology and business management. The school operates under the open admission policy, and remedial classes are offered. You can attend full-time, or you can attend part-time. The school is home to a library, and you have the option to study abroad. A day care is also available on the campus. Over 22,000 students are enrolled at the school.

To get admitted to the institution, you must complete an application online. To enroll in classes, you are required to complete orientation, assessment and counseling. You can access your class schedules and register online. You should apply for financial aid prior to enrolling for classes.
Extracurricular Activities
The Sacramento City Panthers participate in the California Community College Athletic Association and the Big 8 Conference. Some of the sports include football, soccer, golf, volleyball, basketball and tennis. The school also participates in water polo, wrestling, swimming and track and field. The most successful sports program at the college is baseball that has won five state titles and one national championship. In addition, the college is home to over 50 clubs and organizations on campus. The institution contains a school newspaper called The Express.

Many noteworthy people have attended the college. Some of the distinguished alumni include Academy Award nominee Jessica Chastain and NASA astronaut Michael James Adams. Numerous students have gone on to coach in the NFL, and some former students have participated in the Olympic Games.

Some of the main attractions of the city consist of the California State Capitol Museum, the California State Fair and the California Caverns. You can also enjoy visiting the Sacramento Zoo and the gorgeous McKinley Park. On the banks of the American River lies the American River Parkway. This series of parks offers cycling, hiking and horseback riding opportunities. The number of things to do in the city is endless.
