Southwestern College

Southwestern College, located in Chula Vista, CA is a school known for a commitment to both its students and the community. Serving as the primary source of education for over 400,000 residents in the area, the college began offering classes to students in 1961. Two years later, groundbreaking ceremonies for the current 156-acre campus were held, and one year later students had a wonderful new facility from which they could further their educational goals.

In addition to offering classes on campus, the school continues to find off-campus locations to make it convenient for anyone to attain an education. Accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Southwestern College has a regional and growing national reputation for preparing students to further their education or join an ever-changing and competitive workforce. The school is known for offering a wide variety of career options for its students, from Emergency Medical Technician training to Pastry Chef training and everything in between. Other popular programs include Broadcast Technicians, Graphic Designers, Medical Assistants and Travel Agents. Training programs can range from a few weeks to two years, and can include many opportunities for practical experience. The goal of the school is to provide solid training to students that will prepare them to be good not only on the job, but also in the community.

Offering such programs as College for Kids and the Community Tennis Program, the school is dedicated to making sure young children are aware of the importance of a good education. The College for Kids program is designed for those students in grades 5-9 who have been classified as gifted and talented. Sessions are held during the summer, giving kids a chance to expand their knowledge on various subjects. The Community Tennis program is geared for both kids and adults, giving them a chance to get some exercise while learning about the sport and developing a winning attitude.
