Brief Description

Founded in 1885 and home to over 37,000 students, the University of Arizona is an oasis of educational opportunities. Recognized as a premier research institution, as evidenced by its top 20 ranking from the National Science Foundation, the university is committed to making discoveries that will shape the future. Students get the pleasure of sitting in classes and standing side-by-side with Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners, letting them experience fresh new ideas and a can't miss attitude rarely seen at the collegiate level.

Located in Tucson, the school is home to over 387 acres in the heart of the city, making it one of the oldest maintained green spaces in the state. Tucson is known for its great weather and friendly community atmosphere, making it a prime destination for students, families and retirees. The university generates over $625 million in research projects yearly, helping to support programs all over the state. In fact, the school is home to one out of every 93 jobs statewide.

Its athletics, as a member of the Pac-12 conference, are known for excellence on and off the field. Having won national championships in men's basketball, along with titles in many other sports, the university is recognized nationwide for having teams that almost nobody wishes to play. Student-athletes as well as others can choose from a variety of majors including astronomy, entrepreneurship, criminal justice and much more. If the school is known for anything, it is the diversity of its students and faculty. The university reaches across all kinds of former boundaries to ensure its students and faculty are able to openly express themselves without worry. Departments work very closely with one another, particularly when research projects are in the works. Egos at the university are put aside for the greater good of all involved, helping to maintain an environment rich in diversity and celebrating its unique cultural differences everyday.

A number of alumni have gone on to make their dreams come true after leaving the UA. Such notables include fellow Wildcats like NBA player Luke Walton, astronaut Dick Scobee and television personalities Garry Shandling and Greg Kinnear. Whether it's business, politics, sports or science UA alumni are making an impact globally in a number of areas. Using their education as well as their self-discipline and motivation, UA alumni are a competitive group who always want to come out on top. No matter what a student wishes to achieve while in school, attending the UA will provide a great platform for which to begin pursuing whatever dreams may be inside.
