North Shore Community College is a two-year school that awards associate's degrees to students who complete their programs. It also offers transfer programs for students who are working toward degrees at other schools. The three campuses, Beverly, Lynn and Danvers, are all located in Massachusetts. NSCC is proud to serve the local community. Over 90% of NSCC graduates live on the North Shore. NSCC is an integral part of the regional culture.
The school was founded in 1965 and originally only offered five programs. Today, it serves over 15,000 credit and non-credit students, as well as the surrounding communities. North Shore Community College participates in employment training and local enrichment initiatives. It currently offers over 100 degree programs. NSCC likes to keep its classes small to ensure that students receive the attention and interaction they need in order to get the most out of their coursework.
The Lynn campus is conveniently located right next to the local rail station. The building is a bit quainter than the ones on the other campuses, though students find the library to be exceptionally comfortable and well-stocked with literature and research resources. The facility at Danvers is newer and more current in terms of technology. It attracts a slightly more affluent student body than the Lynn campus does. Students report feeling very safe on this campus, and many of them are happy to take advantage of the free printers scattered throughout the hallways. The online courses are set up in a way that is easy to understand. The interface is simple, and the professors are quick to respond to emails.
Students find North Shore Community College to be an effective starting point for great achievements. Many of them go on to earn bachelor's and master's degrees. NSCC allows ambitious high school students to take classes, giving them the opportunity to transfer those credits to another school or graduate from college early. The school welcomes students of all ages and life situations. Most NSCC students are over the age of 22. For them, community college represents a chance to make up for lost time and to earn credentials toward more gainful employment. In fact, 86% of students who completed technical or employment training at NSCC found jobs in their fields after just three months. Only 38% of NSCC students attend classes full-time. The rest take classes as their schedules and budgets allow. This illustrates NSCC's commitment to helping people complete their educations. There is no stigma against students who are unable to drop everything in order to go to school.
NSCC aims to give its students well-rounded educations that amount to more than rote job training. NSCC graduates leave the school having touched on both the liberal arts and technical fields. No matter what NSCC graduates decide to do after completing their NSCC programs, they can feel confident that they have been prepared to succeed.
