Brief Description

Cabrillo College was founded in 1959 in an unincorporated part of Santa Cruz County in, California. The campus looks out over stunning Monterey Bay. Based on the 2010 census, Aptos has a total population of 6,220 or a combined 25,000 if the other unincorporated areas are included. The entire area is residential with a small number of supporting businesses. Entertainment is available in nearby Santa Cruz.

Cabrillo College is a two-year educational facility that offers Associates degrees and certification programs in more than 70 different disciplines. Aside from the main campus, the school maintains several learning centers throughout the area. The program courses are designed for transfer to California State And University of California facilities. The certification programs are designed to prepare students for job opportunities in specific fields. Due to the school's proximity to the Silicon Valley, Business and Information Technology courses are very popular with the local students. Cabrillo College is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

The Cabrillo College Seahawks participate in 13 sports run by the athletic department. The school is a member of the California Community College Athletic Association and aligned with the Coast Athletic Conference. They offer seven sports for men (water polo, golf, baseball, football, basketball, soccer and swimming). The women participate in swimming, water polo, softball, basketball, soccer and volleyball. The school has had a great amount of success winning several conference championships over the years.

Campus life is highlighted by the The ASCC Student Senate which participates in campus government working with the Board of Directors and faculty senate. The college offers many academic and social clubs and organizations open to the student body. For those who are interested, there is a Greek presence on campus.

The list of famous Alumni includes Brendan Ayanbadejo (NFL player), Obafemi Ayanbadejo (NFL player) and Camryn Manheim (Actress, Emmy Award-winner for "The Practice".
