Brief Description

Since its founding in 1935, City College of San Francisco has evolved from a small junior college into one of the largest community colleges in the United States. Like the city it calls home, the college is a multicultural learning center full of fascinating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds. A multi-campus college, it offers courses in more than 100 occupations and provides students the chance to gain an Associate degree that is readily transferrable to any four-year university.

Students can earn degrees in a variety of fields such as Broadcasting, Culinary Arts, Nursing, Women's Studies, Engineering and many more. The school's Honors Program gives those students excelling academically the chance to showcase their talents for potential scholarship opportunities at other schools, while most of the nearly 1,900 faculty members who have Master's degrees are busy encouraging their students to live their dreams through education.

Campus life at City College is as vibrant and varied as San Francisco itself. With over 80 clubs and student organizations, there's something for everyone to enjoy and immerse themselves in. Concerts and lectures, along with the Women's Resource Center and Multicultural Resource Center, showcase the school's commitment to having an open mind and heart. Known for an award-winning Speech and Debate program, the school also features a student-run newspaper as well as a television and radio station. These provide excellent training for those students majoring in Broadcasting, allowing them to hone their skills while still in school.

Thanks to a commitment from the community, numerous bond initiatives have passed allowing construction of a number of buildings. The school has been able to build newer, modern facilities both on and off-campus. These have included new facilities at the Mission and Chinatown campuses, the Student Health Services Center and a joint-use building with San Francisco State University. Known for a commitment to technology, the school has over 70 computer labs with a total of well over 2,000 computers.

Sports are also a part of the City College experience, with students able to compete on the collegiate level in a number of sports including football, baseball, basketball, badminton and even judo. The football team has been the big winner, having brought home eight national championships.

Tuition is extremely affordable at City College, with in-state students paying only $46 per credit. Financial aid is available and given in generous amounts, allowing almost any student the chance to complete their studies. City College offers students a well-rounded educational experience that's affordable and convenient, making it a great bargain for anyone.
