Baylor University is located in Waco, Texas. Waco is located about halfway between the cities of Dallas and Austin. According to the 2010 census, the city has a population 124,805 people. Much of the city's industry is located along the Brazos River. The city is largely considered a service oriented community. Major attractions include the Texas Sports Hall of Fame and several quality museums.

The university participates as a Division I school in the Big 12 Conference. The team nickname is the Bears. The athletic department funds teams in 19 major varsity sports. In recent years, the men's football team has qualified for BCS bowl games and The Lady Bears have won national championships in basketball in 2004 and 2012.
Campus life revolves around a student population of approximately 5,000 students who live in the 12 residential halls or with the numerous sororities and fraternities located on university grounds. The campus provides many social clubs and intramural sports programs to keep the students active and connected. The school also offers a strong ROTC program for students who are considering a career with the U.S. Military

They group include Mark Hurd (President of Oracle Corp), Bill Townsend (founder of Web search engine Lycos, Inc), Leon Jaworski (special prosecutor during the Watergate scandal), Rand Paul (U.S. Senator and former Presidential Candidate), Jeff Dunham (Award-winning ventriloquist and comedian) and Robert Griffin III (NFL quarterback and 2011 Heisman Trophy winner).
