Brief Description

Bates Technical College is located in Tacoma, Washington. Tacoma is the third largest city in the State of Washington. It is located right on the Puget Sound a little over 30 miles to the southwest of Seattle. The city's population exceeds just over 198,000 residents. The economy is driven by service occupations including significant numbers involved in local government support. The city offers a significant opportunity to experience the "arts" including several popular museums and the 89-year-old Pantages Theater.

Bates Technical College offers a wide range of two-year associate of technology degrees, certificates of training and certificates of competency. They have articulation agreements with several four year universities and colleges throughout the region. They offer programs in Business and Management, Child Studies and Educator Training. They also have a program designed to assist students in earning their GEDs and ESLs or continue their high school education with a variety of technical related high school courses.

Bates maintains classes at three locations within the city. They have the Downtown Campus, South Campus and the Central/Mohler Campus. The average age for this commuter college is 32-years-old which helps identify one of the school primary target groups, individuals who are looking for training in order to make a significant job change.

The classrooms are designed to emulate businesses or offices that most of the students hope to find themselves working in upon receiving their certificated or degrees. The school works closely with companies within the community to assure they are preparing students to be able to meet the needs of these future employers.

Bates offers many financial aid options as well as Bates Foundation Scholarships ranging from $100-$1,000. Bates Technical College is accredited through the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities covering all their degrees and certifications.
