As the second largest community college in Illinois with more than 36,000 credit and non-credit students enrolled annually, Moraine Valley Community College is a two-year college located on a 297-acre suburban campus nestled in the Cook County Forest Preserves of Palos Hills to the southwest of Chicago. With satellite locations offered at Blue Island, Tinley Park, and online from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection, MVCC is committed to accommodating to each student's unique learning needs. Renowned as a member of the prestigious League for Innovation in the Community College, MVCC is one of just 12 Vanguard Colleges nationwide.

First approved by the Illinois Junior College Board as a community college for serving the southwestern suburbs of Chicago in 1966, Moraine Valley Community College was named in reference to its central location where the Valparaiso and Tinley moraines meet to form a valley. By 1973, Moraine Valley opened the first permanent campus structure and becomes the community college in Illinois to offer a two-year special education program. While the enrollment climbs above 10,000 due to the formation of a revolutionary Returning Woman Program, MVCC continues its academic excellence for providing affordable career training in hottest fields.

With an outstanding reputation as one of the nation's premier two-year institutions, Moraine Valley Community College is currently ranked within the top three percent of the 2,839 two and four-year U.S. institutions granting associate degrees. Fully accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (NCA), MVCC offers more than 50 associates degree programs, ranging from culinary arts management and information technology to nursing and homeland security. For those seeking higher education, MVCC has partnered with local institutions to offer numerous transfer programs for seamlessly pursuing a bachelor's degree.

Outside of the classroom, Moraine Valley Community College offers around 40 different student club organizations related to special academic interests, religion, diversity, community service, student government, and intramural sports. Within the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference of the NJCAA, the Moraine Valley Cyclones can participate in intercollegiate sports competition for men's baseball, cross country, basketball, golf, and soccer as well as women's basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, and volleyball.
